Here is a selection of the music I have been reviewing recently. It is a bumper one this time, as it has been a while since the last round up of my Ghost Cult Magazine reviews. Click the links to read more, enjoy.
Temic – Terror Management Theory
Terror Management Theory is the debut from Temic, and it offers multi faceted prog metal which blends melody, metal, progressive and electronic elements into one rather good whole.
Bad Touch – Bittersweet Satisfaction
Rock n Roll quintet from Norfolk, Bad Touch’s fifth album Bittersweet Satisfaction is a well rounded 34 minutes of rock with accomplished songwriting and blues, soul and southern rock influences seamlessly integrated.
Hannah Wicklund – The Prize
This engaging and emotive collection of blues, pop and rock is the second record by Hannah Wicklund, a multi talented singer-songwriter from Nashville, which features the help of Greta Van Fleet duo Sam Kiszka and Daniel Wagner.
The Gems – Phoenix
Born of an exodus from Thundermother, this record is a collection of The Gems’ no nonsense, does what it says on the tin, classic rock. Expect big riffs and bigger choruses.
Florence Black – Bed of Nails
Do you like Black Stone Cherry? Well Florence Black‘s latest one Bed of Nails is for you, it delivers commercial hard rock propelled by meaty guitars, propulsive energy and huge choruses.
Jack J Hutchinson – Battles
The British guitarist and songsmith’s latest effort is a lively bit of rock n roll with plenty of in your face riffs, big hooks and guitar solos. Familiar but enjoyable.
Exhorder – Defectum Omnium
I’m a sucker for thrash metal done right, and this is done right. Defectum Omnium is a great display of New Orleans stalwarts Exhorder’s brutal, Testament meets Pantera metal.
Blanket – Ceremonia
On Ceremonia, the Blackpool based Blanket have mixed ‘90s alternative rock to their post rock cum shoegaze sound – adding a visceral punch to their emotive brand of rock.
Marcus King – Mood Swings
Produced by none other than Rick Rubin, Marcus King‘s sixth effort is a smooth blend of R&B, soul, jazz, rock and pop with heartfelt lyrics and rich production values.
