The Playlist Vol. 9

Here’s a collection of new songs that have piqued my interest lately, and one stone cold classic.

The Zac Schulze Gang – I Won’t Do This Anymore.

A rip roaring bluesy rock diatribe against the drudgery of manual labour and low paid jobs, inspired by the Gillingham bands members previous jobs in McDonald’s and Iceland.

The Wildhearts – Troubadour Moon

Ginger and his Wildhearts are back with this moreishly melancholic tale of a musician’s dashed hopes and dreams. This is from the new album Satanic Rites Of The Wildhearts, due out in March.

Skunk Anansie – Cheers

This propulsive rocker is the latest single from the ‘Hedonism’ and ‘Because Of You’ groups forthcoming effort The Painful Truth, their first record in nine years.

Sam Fender – People Watching.

A touching yet anthemic track inspired by walks back from the care home where a friend was staying. This mix of The Killers and Springsteen is the title track from the Geordie musicians new record, one littered with ruminations on working class life.

Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts – Big Change

This loud rocker, with a crashing guitar and a steady thudding beat is the debut single by Neil Young and his new band. The Canadian is performing at Glastonbury this year, after some headline grabbing toing and froing.

Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band – Old Time Rock and Roll.

Finishing on a classic that really needs no introduction, enjoy.
