Here is part two of my round up of ghost cult magazine reviews I have done since April, enjoy.
Vuur & Zijde – Boezem
Boezem is the debut from the Dutch quintet Vuur & Zijde, and it is a sombre and melancholic mix of post punk and black metal.
The Other Sun – Daimon, Devil, Dawn.
Swedish trio The Other Sun’s debut is a blend of surf rock, 70s rock and Western film soundtracks with a generous helping of gothic rock. The result is a unique sound with a moody atmosphere you almost certainly have not heard before.
Kingcrow – Hopium.
Hopium is a decent dose of emotive prog rock with prominent ambient, electronic and alt rock influences sewn in from the Italian quintet Kingcrow. ‘Kintsugi’ has a whiff of Muse melodrama to it, which pervades the whole record.
Blitzkrieg – Blitzkrieg.
Fans of Saxon and Judas Priest will like this self-titled album from the NWOBHM veterans Blitzkrieg, its like the last 40 years were just a bad dream.
Blood Incantation – Absolute Elsewhere
Where to begin! Blood Incantation’s new album Absolute Elsewhere mixes 70s prog rock with 90s death metal with science fiction and philosophical lyrics, resulting in multi layered, complex and richly rewarding music.
