Bonjour, here is another collection of new songs that have floated my boat recently – rounded off by a golden oldie. Click here to read the previous one.
Green Lung – Necropolitan Line.
The British occult rockers formed in 2017 and have a fondness for folklore, myths and legends. On this track from their upcoming effort Necropolitan, they sound like a wonderfully haywire mix of Deep Purple and The Crazy World of Arthur Brown.
Muse – Unravelling.
The ever bombastic Teignmouth Trio don’t do anything by halves, and their space influenced new album The Wow! Signal is yet again as subtle as a tonne of bricks. This was the first single from the record and its mix of electronic, prog and heavy metal is a pleasant surprise.
Jack White – Dollar Bill.
This bluesy little firecracker, like ‘God And The Broken Ribs’ from my previous playlist, is from Jack White’s forthcoming album Frozen Charlotte – which is his seventh solo effort.
The Temperance Movement – Eat You Alive.
Eight years since their last album, frontman Phil Campbell is back and new album A New Promise Land Incorporated is out in October – with this propulsive rocker a taster of what is to come.
Airbourne – Kid in a Candy Store.
The Australian rabble rousers are back, a new record is due in August and they still worship at the loud and riffy altar of AC/DC.
Don Henley – Boys of Summer.
As it is now the appropriate season, and infernal heat is upon us all, here is a timeless slice of wistful 80s pop for you. Written by Heartbreakers guitars Mike Campbell for Tom Petty, but he rejected it, Don Henley was offered it and the rest is history.
